Real Sociedad V Manchester United

The Spanish side go into this game knowing if they lose they will be eliminated from Europe as they sit bottom of the group with zero points. Despite making difficult work in transition to Champions League football Sociedad find themselves in good form domestically, undefeated in three games, a 5-0 win at the weekend will have confidence flowing and the fires stoked at the Anoeta, as they look to right a 1-0 defeat last time the two clubs played.

United themselves have righted a rocky start to the season and are now undefeated in their last six in all competitions. United sit top on seven points from 3 games but can’t afford to take this game lightly, a win for Sociedad opens the group wide depending on the  result of the other game between Shaktar and Leverkusen.

Manchester City V CSKA Moscow

The Russian side can expect a rowdy reception at the Etihad after the racial abuse of Yaya Toure by CSKA fans.

A win for City will put them six points clear of third place CSKA and almost certain to qualify for the last 16 and lay some ghosts to rest. The Manchester club won 2-1 in Moscow and will look to Saturday’s 7-0 drubbing of Norwich City for some inspiration. Joe Hart remains on the bench.

Since the last game between these two CSKA have built up some domestic form winning their last three games and sit fourth in the Russian Premier League.

Best of the rest:

54-1  598-1

Juventus V Real Madrid

Juve and Antonio Conte know that they must make a concerted effort to beat Real in Turin. Real shave a 100 percent record so far and are top on nine points. Juventus have just two points and know that second place Galatasaray are likely to beat bottom club FC Copenhagen in the other fixture.

Wins for Real and Galatasaray put them on 12 and seven points respectively, the Turkish side five ahead of Juve with six points to play for.

Juventus could look at Madrid’s weekend match against Rayo Vallecano for inspiration as Carlo Ancelotti saw his side blow a 3-0 lead to nearly capitulate, they hung on for a 3-2 win, but defensive frailties are there for Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente to exploit.
